expansive
I am rounder now
I am the heaviest I’ve ever been, and it doesn’t appear that the gravity has changed. It is strange to expand physically beyond the previous limits of your body. I think it’s probably a combination of a medication I’m on and the changing hormones of my 39-year-old self. In a moment of self-love, I wrote this poem.

expansive
by Katie Anne Jamieson
I am rounder now
more round and
expansive than ever,
I billow
out beyond
the boundaries
I was born to
roundness that jiggles
soft rolls at my waist
I let myself eat,
make my needs known
my body reaches
up and out
blossoming like
a dogwood tree
